About Quirky Covers

The face behind Quirky Covers

Quirky Covers would like to introduce me.....Marsha Richardson.

The idea of Quirky Covers was born one cold November morning in my workshop down by the river in Sussex. For me I am not a lover of lycra chair covers, and I wanted to bring to the market a fresh new look.

I knew that I could create beautiful chair covers, for weddings, garden parties, and all other celebrations.

I felt with my love for old vintage fabrics I could use pretty prints, ticking, stripes, and upcycled fabrics etc. I could make a better fitting chair cover that wouldn't show the chair legs, and would not be made out of poor quality fabric, providing a better finish to the product.

With my knowledge in soft furnishings and running my own successful business for 5 years, I felt I could do it!

So I created a pattern and made my first 10 covers to showcase at a local barn wedding venue. From this I got several bookings. So Quirky Covers had arrived.

I soon learnt there was more to setting up a chair cover hire business. Customers also wanted to hire matching bunting and napkins and they also required a fitting service to take the stress out of the set up.

I had no marketing knowledge, as I never needed it with my soft furnishing business so I took up a start up business course at the local University. I started attending networking groups and spent most of my Fridays in Fifi the peppermint Fiat 500, on road trips driving round all the wedding venues in Sussex, Hampshire, & Surrey to introduce the new concept of chair cover hire with a Quirky twist.

So that's me and how Quirky Covers came about, all over a hot cup of tea on a cold November morning.
